The self-titled debut album Other Places was released in 2011, garnering strong support from Australian radio, a feature interview on Germany's national broadcaster Deutsche Welle and a support slot for New York math-rockers Battles. Channeling a love of Joe Meek, early LFO, Ben Burtt and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Other Places took the classic sounds of Krautrock and science fiction soundtracks, refracted them through a 21st century digital prism and beamed a Kosmische light into the future of electronic music.

Crossing easily over musical borders, Mathew’s live work has seen him drumming alongside artists as diverse as Ollie Olsen, Boredoms, Mountains In The Sky, Sophia Brous & Mick Harvey, Deborah Conway, Ella Hooper and Magic Silver White. He has created experimental drum/synth/lapsteel works as duo Fading Fires with virtuoso Chris Rainier, and performed as Taipan Tiger Girls with Ollie Olsen.

He is equally at home in high-profile, high-concept collaborations played out at major events. These have included the annual astronomical happenings of Japanese experimental legends Boredoms and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’s Nick Zinner's 41 Strings/IIII project at Sydney Opera House for the 2012 Sydney Festival.

The past year has seen Mathew back in the studio as Other Places, exploring new processes with the focus on a free-flowing, performance-based approach to composition and production. The Synthi AKS takes centre stage, its raw and vital circuitry shocking life into digital textures, making the inorganic breathe, sweat and sing.

The new Other Places album is complete and set for release in mid 2013.
